The protection objective is to preserve grasslands and xerothermic thickets with rare plant species for scientific and didactic reasons.
The subject of protection is the uncovering of the Jurassic marl covered with thickets and steppe grasslands, with characteristic and rare species of plants - such an area is called xerothermic grassland. Less than three hundred meters long fragment of the right slope of the Warta valley with partially natural outcrops of Upper Jurassic marls is under protection. The reserve is situated on a slope made of Upper Jurassic marl and limestones. The area of the reserve is surrounded by dense thickets surrounding the higher parts of the hill covered with flowering steppe vegetation. Despite the small area of the reserve, its flora is very rich. Here you can find: hilly gorse, arachnid branch, chamomile yellow, meadowsweet, spikelets feathery and other rare species of plants.

Three plant communities have been distinguished in the reserve's vegetation: grassland with pinnate spike, privet thickets with blackthorn and multi-species forest with ash and field elm (slope riparian forest). Among the vascular plants, the following deserve special attention: the gawędka aster, the hairy purgatory, the Siberian and Bolognese bells, the long-haired clover, the hilltop speedwell, the large-flowered head and the medicinal primrose. Among the bushes, you can still find a few rare species of roses: the reddish rose, the rusty rose and the knotty rose.
In the lower part of the escarpment, shrubs dominate, among others Blackthorn plum, common dogwood, single-necked hawthorn, wild rose, privet, field elm.
The reserve has partial protection due to the high growth of thickets and the resulting threat of jamming the main protection objective (xerothermic grassland), therefore bushes clearing is carried out in a specific area.
Magnificent and very floristically rich xerothermic grasslands have developed in the clearances and higher parts of the escarpment. hilly gorse, pinnate knuckle, primula, large-leaved head, stalkless, Bolognese bell, Siberian bell.
