Two long-distance routes run through this municipality: Het pedlar path (LAW 3) and the Pieterpad (LAW9). The Marskramerpad runs east-west and crosses the Pieterpad on the flanks of the Holterberg, which runs north-south.

The Marskramerpad is part of two larger routes: the trade road and the European walking route E11. The E11 runs from the Hague to the east, currently the border Poland/Lithuania. On site, the route from Okkenbroek will enter the municipality Deventer and crosses the Holterberg at a place with all kinds of taverns. The route does not continue, but closes around Rijssen and continues along the Boven-Regge near the entrance in the municipality Wierden.The Pieterpad comes from Nijverdal into the municipality Hellendoorn, crosses the top of the Holterberg, runs through the center of Holten via the station and continues towards Laren in the Achterhoekse Township Lochem.
