Riviera del Brenta is an urban area of the metropolitan city of Venice, which extends along the banks of the Naviglio del Brenta, in Veneto.
To know
It is an area of high historical and landscape value due to the presence of numerous Venetian villas. The focal point of the economy of the Riviera del Brenta area is the footwear industry (born as a consequence of the agrarian crisis of the late nineteenth century.

The center of the Riviera, both from a geographical point of view and for the services offered, is the town of Dolo, where the hospital, the upper secondary schools, as well as the justice of the peace are located. The most populous municipality (about 40,000 inhabitants) is instead that of Aim (born in 1867 from the merger of the three municipalities of Gambarare, Mira and Oriago).

Background
The watercourse of the Naviglio played an important role as a communication route between the Venice lagoon and the Paduan area. The area is characterized by the presence of many villas, built between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries by Venetian patrician families, which testify to the aristocratic power of the time. At that time the Riviera was reached only by moving by boat, while the current roads were built later. The Venetian nobles were transported on the river by a boat called "Burchiello" pulled from the banks by men, oxen or horses, while the goods were transported by boats called "Burci". Even today the cruise along the Riviera del Brenta constitutes a tourist attraction.

How to get
By plane
- 1 Venice airport (Marco Polo), ☎ 39 041 2606111. Tessera Airport, 10 km from the city center. The two cheapest ways to reach Venice from the airport are line 5 of theACTV which leaves every 30 minutes, or the blue shuttleATVO which reaches piazzale Roma. More comfortable, although slightly more expensive are the lines of theAlilaguna, which depart from the nearby dock. Also from this dock, the most expensive water taxis depart.
- 2 Treviso Airport (Canova), via Noalese 63 / E. About thirty kilometers from Venice, where low-cost airline flights land.
By car
- A4 motorway: Padova Est exit: direction Ponte di Brenta; Dolo-Mirano exit: direction Padua - Riviera del Brenta.
- From Padua: SP n ° 11 towards Venice.
- From Venice: SP n ° 11 towards Padua (after the center of Fiesso d'Artico).
On the train
- Padua station with the Milan-Venice line.
- Mestre, Vigonza-Pianiga, Dolo, Mira-Mirano stations.
