Rize is on the south coast of the Black Sea in the Turkey and has approx. 80,000 inhabitants.

Rize had about 80,000 inhabitants and is also the capital of the province of the same name. The city itself has relatively little to offer tourists, but the hinterland (Kaçkar Mountains) has become a popular trekking destination in recent years. The city itself lives mainly from tea cultivation.

If you drive the D010 on the coast between Trabzon and Hopa along this leads directly through Rize.
There are direct connections to and from the city by bus Artvin or Erzurum. The bus station is a bit out of the way, but there are shuttle services to the center from here. With Trabzon and Hopa there are Dolmuş connections (shared taxi). The train station for this is near the D010.
