Roffia is a fraction of the municipality of San Miniato in the province of Pisa.

Geographical notes
The village of Roffia is located along the southern banks of the Arno, near the confluence with the Rio Dogaia, about 4 km from the municipal center of San Miniato, in Valdarno inferior. Near the hamlet there is a lake that was formed following the various floods of the Arno between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Beginning in the eighties of the twentieth century, a recovery plan began for the transformation of the lake area into a river park specialized for canoe competitions and international rowing.
Background
Formerly known as Ria, the village of Roffia is mentioned for the first time in a document drawn up on 2 August 995 and is again remembered in the bull of Celestino III of 24 April 1194 for the presence of the church of San Michele a Roda, as a branch of the parish of San Genesio . From the name of the village, over the following centuries, one of the most important and influential families of San Miniato took its name, perhaps descending from a rich Roctia woman, attested in the 10th century. The proximity to the Arno river and the lake has always made the town vulnerable to subsidence and floods: in the winter between 2013 and 2014 it was hit by such rainfall which raised the level of the lake, almost going beyond the banks to close to the houses.

- Boating. The village is known above all for the presence of the Roffia rowing basin, where various sports competitions are held, such as rowing and canoeing polo.
