Tourist Attractions
- 1 Notre-Dame-du Haut chapel. The main attraction of Ronchamp is this chapel, which is located on a hill outside the village. It is a church designed by Le Corbusier in 1950 and built between 1954 and 1955. The modern, curved concrete building replaces the previous church that was destroyed in the war in 1944. It is located at the former oppidum of Bourlémont, and is a very old pilgrimage site of the cult of Mary. From here you also have a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The chapel, together with other buildings by Le Corbusier, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Open: Church: April - September: daily 9.30am - 6.30pm, October - March: daily 10.00am - 5.00pm
- 2 Parish Church of Notre Dame. The neo-Gothic Notre Dame church in the village center dates from 1863.
- 3 Mining museum, on the Place de la Maire in the Maison de la Mine. There is a mining museum at this point. In addition to the mining work and equipment and the mining history of the region, silicosis (dust lung), a serious occupational disease among miners, is discussed. The Puits Sainte-Marie called shaft is a former coal mine.See also: Ronchamp coal mines
