Tourist Attractions
The northern part of Ronneburg is more like a dormitory town. Mainly renovated houses from the 1950s are located here, which are integrated into many green areas. The part between the market and the railway embankment is different: behind the (upper) market the late Gothic Parish Church of St. Johannis from the 15th century, on the edge of the surrounding church square, the rectory, one of the oldest buildings in the city. Further down the also late Gothic lock, including the knight's hall, which is used for events.
That is what it says on the eastern edge of the market square itself town hall of the city of Ronneburg. It got its current appearance in particular through additions and the purchase of adjacent buildings. The "House of the Council" was first mentioned in documents in 1476. In 1665, large parts of the building were destroyed in a fire. The reconstruction took nine years. The so-called "Fischer'sche Haus", which was bought by the city in 1921, was located next to the town hall for centuries. When the town hall was rebuilt in 1928/29, it was included as a new part of the building. The Ratskeller was located in the ground floor rooms until 1923. Opposite the town hall that Noack patrician house by 1737.
In the Arched truss hall (Brunnenstrasse) there is a museum dedicated to the history of uranium ore mining and landscaping in the run-up to the BUGA. Among other things, a mining tunnel was modeled in the basement. The arched truss hall was originally a project as part of the EXPO 2000 with the topic "Revitalization of the uranium ore mining landscape of East Thuringia". A commemorative plaque is attached to the outer wall of the area, commemorating the "Ronneburger Schnallensturm", a weaver revolt of 1841.
From the arched truss hall, Brunnenstrasse leads under the old railway bridge out of town in the direction of Werdau. Shortly before the ascent of the street left remains of the historical spa gardens - Ronneburg was allowed to move around the turn of the 20th century bath Call Ronneburg; however, with the start of mining, the mineral springs dried up. A pavilion of the "Well wood" named area was rebuilt. On the outskirts of the village you will encounter one of the last original witnesses of the mining past: the Headframe of shaft 407. Listed as a historical monument, it is the only winding tower in the area that has been preserved, along with the tower near Löbichau.
