Werdau lies in the west Saxony. The city is located on the Pleiße, in the west of the Erzgebirge Basin and has about 24,000 inhabitants. The closest major city is 8 km as the crow flies Zwickau, followed by Gera (26 km) and Chemnitz (39 km). The districts of Leubnitz, Steinpleis, Langenhessen and Königswalde belong to Werdau.

By plane
The nearest commercial airport is the Leipzig Airport. There is a free train connection with the Central German S-Bahn (lines S5 or S 5X) to the airport.
By train
Werdau is on the railway line Leipzig–Zwickau. Werdau train station is around 1500 meters south of the city center. The Central German S-Bahn runs with S-Bahn express trains (S5X) to Zwickau or Halle via Leipzig (City Tunnel) and the S 5, which stops everywhere, to Zwickau or Leipzig / Halle Airport via Leipzig, as well as the Vogtlandbahn with regional trains court.
Another traffic stop (only S5) is in Werdau-Nord.
