Rottenburg am Neckar is a city in Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Rottenburg am Neckar lies between the Korngäu or Upper Gäu, the Schönbuch and the Rams in the Alb foreland. Before 1803, the city was almost entirely Catholic and belonged to Upper Austria, then became part of Württemberg, and in 1821 became the seat of the Catholic bishop of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese. A total of 17 districts belong to Rottenburg, which were formerly largely independent municipalities and were incorporated from 1971-1975.
