Azerbaijani phrasebook - Rozmówki azerbejdżańskie

Azerbaijani language is the main language in Azerbaijan. It is also spoken by the 25% Azerbaijani minority in Iran and in the eastern Turkey and Georgia. More than 2 million Azerbaijan also live and work in Russia. In total, it can be used by 30 to 40 million people.

Pronunciation

Alphabet

  • A B C Ç D E Ə F G Ğ H. X AND AND J K Q L M N O ABOUT P R S NS HERE ATV Y Z
  • a b c ç d e ə f g ğ h xand i j k q l m n o about p r p NS here atv y z

Above all characters not appearing in the Polish alphabet are in bold; in Azerbaijani there is no letter 'Ww'. Due to the post-Soviet style of transcribing words of foreign origin, the spelling of words such as "weekend" or "whiskey" may look quite surprising: "uikend" and "uiski" or "vikend" and "viski".
