From the Muscat Express motorway, take the junction for route 11 which easily leads to Rustaq.

- 1 Fort Rustaq. A nice fort with two cannons placed at its entrance, allows you to turn inside to discover the architecture of the time. From the terrace you can enjoy the view of the city. Next to the entrance door is an aflaj, an active irrigation channel. It was nominated to be classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- 2 Al Hamz Castle (حصن الحزم), along the way to Rustaq. 1 OMR. Sat-Thu 9: 00-16: 00. This beautiful well preserved fort is very interesting to visit, with its different levels, the various rooms used for different uses such as prisons, warehouses, kitchens and living quarters. There is even a mosque and tombs. At the entrance, audio guides are provided with which you can follow the route by numbers. Do not miss the hatch of the entrance to the fort with which any attackers deceived themselves and the technique of internally arranging the internal decentralized access door to prevent the use of a breakthrough ram.

- 2 Fort Al Awabi (حصن العوابي), Al Awabi, Oman (From Rustaq take route 13 to Al Awabi locality). Sun-Thu 8: 00-14: 00. Fort that can be visited in the city of Al Awabi.
Itineraries
- In the area near Rustaq you can visit several wadis (natural canyons in the Hajar mountains), for some sections with a simple car for others it is necessary to use the 4WD. In fact, there are Wadi Alhoqain, Wadi Sahtan, Wadi Bani Awf (see itinerary below), Wadi Bani Kharous, Wadi Hijir, Wadi Abydah and Wadi Mistal. Their visit can be done individually or as a tour by car.
