Rutigliano is a city of the Puglia, located on the premurgian belt of central Puglia.

To know

Rutigliano is an Italian town of 18,620 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Bari, in Puglia. The town in the south-east of Bari, together with six other Apulian municipalities, in 2010 was awarded the title of "City of Art" in relation to its priceless historical-artistic-architectural heritage.

The center is known as "Città dell'Uva" for the large-scale production of fine table varieties (Uva Italia, Vittoria and Red Globe). It is also, in the south, known as the capital of the "Terracotta Whistles". The town is in fact famous for the traditional figulina activity, practiced since the Neolithic, and today linked to clay pans for cooking food and the production of the typical terracotta "whistles" (very fine artisan works of art). The traditional "City of Rutigliano terracotta whistle fair" is dedicated to them and is held on 17 January every year on the occasion of the liturgical feast of Sant'Antonio Abate.
