Urban centers
- Oakham - County town of Rutland.
- Empingham - Village near the Rutland Water dam.
- Essendine - Its small church has a remarkable Norman tympanum above the south door.
- Great Casterton - Located at the intersection of Roman Ermine Street and the River Gwash.
- Langham - The parish church of Saints Peter and Paul dates back to the late 13th century.
- Manton - Manton also has a number of other attractions, including the refurbished Horse and Jockey, the only pub on the cycle path around Rutland Water. Manton organizes regular social events, including book clubs and safari dinners.
- Pilton - 2/3 km south of Rutland Water.
- Uppingham - The market square is transformed once a year into a unique fattening animal show. The event attracts farmers from all over the area who exhibit their livestock.
