Urban centers

  • Fancy - Located at the northern end of the island, Fancy is the poorest village on the island and is inhabited by descendants of indigenous Caribs.
  • Georgetown - Located on the windward coast.
  • Kingstown - Capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Kingstown is located on a bay on the southwest coast, near the E. T. Joshua International Airport. It is a town of 30,000 inhabitants that has preserved a colonial-era atmosphere.

The last, small eruption occurred in 1972, preceded by the much more ruinous one of May 7, 1902 which resulted in numerous victims.
  • Petit Byahaut - 3 km from the capital, Petit Byahaut is a dark sand beach surrounded by dense tropical vegetation. Offshore there are small, dark coral formations.
