History
Santa Fe was the capital Spain, later Mexico. But the story of the place begins long before the arrival of the Spaniards: it is believed to have been a Pueblo-Indians village and had been abandoned long before the arrival of the conquistadors. In 1912, when the state was created New Mexico, Santa Fe became its capital.
At the beginning of the 20th century, this place attracted many artists, such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz. The arrival of Igor Stravinsky and the construction of the Santa Fe Opera further strengthened the city's position on the American art scene.
Many people flocked to Santa Fe to take advantage of the local resorts and spas.
On the one hand, the city is one of the oldest villages States, and many residents may look for their roots back several centuries, on the other hand, many rich immigrants have flowed here in the last 30 years. Early summer (June, beginning of July) is hot and dry, temperatures can exceed 30 ° C. Later in summer it is more pleasant - monsoon rains cool the afternoons, but you have to be prepared to get wet.
