Scheveningen(IPA: [ˈSxeːvənɪŋə (n)] ) is an internationally known seaside resort and a district of The hagueThe hotel "Het Kurhaus", the "Holland Casino" and the "Pier van Schevenigen" pier are located along the beach, which is visited by many tourists. There are a few places to go out and a fishing port.
background
Scheveningen used to be a fishing village with its own costume, and when there was no port, the flat-bottomed ships were simply pulled onto the beach. What we call tourism did not emerge until the 19th century. During this time, travel was of course reserved for certain classes. The Kurhaus was built in 1881 and the first pier in 1901, which was officially called "Koningin Wilhelmina Wandelboulevard". The first fishing port was also built around the turn of the century.
getting there
By train
To "Den Haag Centraal" or the train station "Hollands Spoor" (HS). The Trams 1, 9 and 11 go to Scheveningen. The Strand Express (Tram 5) currently only runs on Sundays. On other days you can take tram 1 to Scheveningen.
By bus
Buses 14, 22 and 23 go to Norderstrand. Only the 11 stops closer to the harbor, which is a little further south.
In the street
The A4, A12, A13 or A44 / N44 roads lead to The Hague. Then drive towards Strand or Haven, where you can follow the directions for the parking garages. These garages are overcrowded on good summer days. Additional parking spaces can be found on the streets. The parking fees for a day's stay (always from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.) are € 12.50. Day tickets can be bought in the hotels. Outside the season, you can park for free at Zwarte Pad (inquire in advance at the hotel). In such cases one should follow the park-and-ride signs on the A4 / A13 "P R Hoornwijck" consequences.
By bike or on foot
Scheveningen is the starting point or end point of the Hiking trail E11 and is due to that of Texel to Boulogne-sur-Mer reaching LF1 (North Sea Route)that crosses particularly attractive routes, such as dune areas, along the Dutch coast.
