  • 1 Lake Kanyaboli National Reserve (Lake Kanyaboli National Reserve) Logo indicating a link to the websiteLogo indicating a wikipedia link (West) – Logo image indicating that the suite indicates rates free. Reserve of 41,42 km2 created in in an ecosystem of more than 200 km2 formed by the Yala swamp and the Kanyaboli lake. The predominant vegetation is papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) but we also find in large quantities the sensitive (Mimosa pudica) whose thigmonasty is always attractive and a matter of surprise for children and adults alike. Also present, senna (Senna alexandrina) and the endemic aloe of Lake Victoria (Aloe lolwensis) both provided with leaves with laxative properties. Or the majestic Christmas candle holder (Leonotis nepetifolia) whose leaves have a relaxing power and antipyretic as well as the Egyptian white lotus (Nymphaea lotus) and various species of mallets (Typha). If the marshy areas are the ideal place to observe the sitatunga (Tragelaphus spekii), the whole of the national reserve is a favorable paradise for many endemic birds such as the shimmering gonolek of the papyri (Laniarius mufumbiri), the canary of Koli (Crithagra koliensis), the papyrus cisticola (Cisticola carruthersi) as well as the aquatic chloropete (Calamonastides gracilirostris), classified byIUCN in the "vulnerable" category. Other bird species such as the magnificent blue-collared bee-eater (Merops variegatus), the white-winged warbler (Bradypterus carpalis), the sagittarius messenger (Sagittarius serpentarius) as well as different types of cranes (Gruidae) and ardéidae (Ardeidae). Among the fish fauna of the lake, which are allowed to be fished, we can mention several species ofOreochromis like the tilapiasOreochromis niloticus and Oreochromis leucostictus as well as endemics Oreochromis variabilis and Oreochromis esculentus, the latter two being classified by theIUCN in the “critically endangered” category.
  • 2 Sarah Obama House (south-east at Nyang'oma Kogelo) – Logo image indicating that the suite indicates rates free. Family house from the paternal line of 44e president of United StatesBarack obama. This is where still lives Sarah obama, the 3e wife of the grandfather of the former president and who raised his father. If you know how to be persuasive vis-à-vis the security guard at the entrance, you will have the possibility, against temporary surrender of your passport, to meet, in complete privacy and without time constraints, the old lady in her nineties who receives her visitors in a small hexagonal pavilion. You will have the opportunity to have your photograph taken in his company but the conversation will be difficult unless you are accompanied by a translator speaking the luo. Sarah Obama speaks only this language, very littleEnglish and not at all swahili. During the conversation, she will try to discreetly place that she takes care of orphans (you are free to decide whether or not to make a small donation for her charitable work by leaving her). After the interview, you will have the opportunity to take, in complete tranquility, all the exterior photos of the property you want and, among other things, of the graves of the grandfather and the father of the former American president (those these are to the left of the hexagonal pavilion).
  • 3 Mausoleum of Oginga Odinga Logo indicating a link to the website (south to Bondo) – Located on a wooded plot of 1,4 Ha, the site classified as a national monument (National monument) is managed by national museums of Kenya and includes the mausoleum of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, 1er Vice President of Kenya and an important figure in the struggle for the independence of the country as well as a museum where naturalized regional animals, cultural artefacts and dioramas explaining the traditional medicine of the Luos.
  • Crossing the terrestrial equator  – The two most accessible places to cross the Earth's equator are at:
    • 4 Kogelo (At the South-East) – On the regional road C28 (Ng'iya ↔ Luanda K'Otieno).
    • 5 Malanga Wall (South) – On the secondary road D246 (Siaya ↔ Bondo).
Here no monument to mark the place as in Maseno but you will have the opportunity, if you won the equipment ad hoc, to perform the experiment of water that rotates clockwise in the southern hemisphere, counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and does not rotate exactly on the equatorial line at all.
