To speak
In Kenya, people generally speak the language of their tribe among themselves, here the luo, the swahili and theEnglish. Young people also speak sheng which is a slang mixing the tribal language, Swahili and English. However many older people, like for example Sarah obama, speak only Luo. TO Kisumu, you will also be able to meet people who know the basics of French which is the 1D foreign language taught in Kenya.
To go
By plane
The best way to arrive by plane whether it is, in particular, to central Nyanza or, in general, to Western Kenya is the international airport of Kisumu. Regular flights have been organized since Nairobi, Eldoret, Kampala, in Uganda, and Mwanza, in Tanzania.
- 1 Kisumu International Airport (Kisumu International Airport IATA : KIS) Airport Road, 40100 Kisumu,
254 57 2020811, 254 728 765360 (cellphone)
On a boat
Since the shutdown in 2005 of the last two international ferries which linked Kisumu and Entebbe in Uganda, there is no longer any possibility of reaching Kisumu by lake victoria by means of a regular transport service. Since 2009, a return to service project has been on the cards for the Ugandan government, but in 2018 nothing concrete has yet come of it. Patience then!
