Simonswald is a municipality in the tourism region Country of two valleys.

The municipality of Simonstal is located in the long, deeply cut valley of the Wild Gutachthat are near Furtwangen rises and at Gutach im Breisgau flows into the Elz. The villages Wildgutach, Obersimonswald, Altsimonswald and Untersimonswald lie along the course of the river, and Haslachsimonswald is in a side valley. These localities united to form the Simonswald community around 1970, and there are still a few dozen hamlets and farms.

The next train station is in Gutach im Breisgau or in Waldkirch.

In the street

The only significant road connection is the L173, it branches off from the B294 at Gutach and goes upstream through Simonswald and further on Guttenbach and Furtwangen. There is a branch at Wildgutach St. Märgen and to the B500.

Tourist Attractions

  • The Oil mill for the extraction of edible oil from rapeseed, poppy seeds or beechnuts. Next to it a flour mill and a press (wine press). It is open Thursday, Saturday 10 am-3pm (Easter until the end of October)
  • The Jockenhof Village Museum Mainly houses farm equipment and clothing, open Thursday, Saturday 1.30pm to 5pm. Free access with the KONUS guest card, otherwise € 2.
  • The Simonswälder Mühlenwanderweg leads past several historic mills.
  • The 1 Zweribach waterfalls are a popular hiking destination, they are located in the middle of a nature reserve.
  • The 2 Hirschbach Falls are in a neighboring side valley.
