Sisophone(Khmer: សិរីសោភ័ណ) is a city in northwest of Cambodia and capital of the province Banteay Meanchey.

By train
Sisophon lies on the railway line from Poipet to Battambang and on to the capital. Rail operations from the Thai border were resumed in April 2018, and work is still underway to resume operations on the entire line.

- Next to the Phnom Svay Hotel (to the south) there is a large restaurant that also handles tourist buses. It is a very large room with a lot of tables (in the evening it can happen that you are forced to walk with the claim that you - the guest - are tired).
- From Phnom Svay Hotel walk south along the main road towards the bus station. At the fork in the road (right direction Battambang - left bus station) there is a restaurant. This also has an English menu.

A reservation in advance should not be necessary in Sisophon. The author of these lines was the only guest in the 'Phnom Svay Hotel'. But that is probably due to the fact that the city currently has little to offer for tourists.

- Prom Meanchey Hotel (in the center at the Tela petrol station). Price: $ 10 (double with AC).
- Phnom Svay Hotel (At the roundabout at the start of the Poipet road). Mobile: 855(0)12-952165. Price: $ US 6 / 10-12 (Fan / AC).- One of the best hotels in town, no restaurant, the main building is apparently no longer in use.

- Banteay Chhmar. Temple complex built by Jayavarman VII on the site of a former 9th century temple. Many of the towers have collapsed. The temple was famous for its masterful reliefs, similar to those of the Bayon Temple. However, many of them were stolen by art thieves or destroyed by war. The distance from Sisophon is 54 km, the travel time is 2 hours by motorcycle or car and it costs about 10 $ There are many smaller temples in the area, but they are also in poor condition.
