Sochi (Russian: Сочи; Georgian: სოჭი) [1] is a city in the south Russia along the Black Sea coast, which has long been the Russians' own holiday paradise with proximity to both beaches and ski resorts. The city will host the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Sochi is the capital of what many call the "Russian Riviera", with its palm trees and banana trees, the city is very different from what many perceive is Russia. Right now, the area is undergoing a major refurbishment ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympics, including the construction of several new railway lines and a sports center. Sochi will have a real boost in tourists in the next few years.
