Storkow (Mark) (Lower SorbianŠtorkow (Marka)) is a small town in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg (Germany).
background
The place was first mentioned in 1209. The current urban area went from the one that existed from 1992 to 2003 Office Storkow (Mark) and covers 180 km² in addition to the core city of Storkow 14 other districts. A total of over 9,000 people live in Storkow.

The Storkow motorway junction on the Berlin-Frankfurt (Oder) (A12) motorway is about nine kilometers north of the city
Storkow has a small train station operated by regional trains Koenigs Wusterhausen is approached. It takes just over an hour to change trains from Berlin Mitte. Alternatively, a regional bus connects Storkow with Fürstenwalde (Spree).
For water hikers, Storkow is an interesting stopover on the way from Berlin to the Scharmützelsee and thus to Bad Saarow.

The Storkow city center with the large market square and the town church has a reconstructed one as a special feature 1 Bascule bridge on the Storkower Canal, which is heavily used by pleasure boats.

However, there was probably a Slavic fortress at this point before the German settlement. The castle was given its current shape in 2009 after severe damage occurred in a major fire in 1978. Inside the castle, the cultural and natural history of the region is presented to the visitor in the form of an exhibition. The nature park center of the Dahme-Heideseen nature park and the local tourist information center are also located in the castle. A herd of water buffalo grazes right next to the castle.
