Takeo(Khmer: តាកែវ) is the capital of the homonymous province in Cambodia. Even if it doesn't have the same tourist relevance as other cities in the country, a short detour to the city or a stop on the way to is worthwhile Kampot. The city is located in a very charming landscape surrounded by rice fields and canals.

- The bus company Phnom Penh Sorya Transport departs every hour between 07:00 and 16:00 Phnom Penh after Takeo.
- In Phnom Penh the taxis in the direction of Takeo start at Psah Dumkor.
- The train station is 3 kilometers north of the city. Some passenger trains run on the Phnom Penh - Sihanoukville line over the weekend. More about it here

Takeo is a sleepy provincial town. There is hardly any nightlife - especially one according to our ideas. So you will end the day with a few drinks and a good book.

- Phnom Da. 17 meter high temple from the 8th century on an approx. 100 m high hill. The trip is worth it just because of the journey. It can be reached by a delightful one-hour boat trip on one of the canals. You can watch farmers on the flooded, partially flooded rice fields as well as fishermen.Price: A boat trip costs $ US 24 - regardless of the number of people (maximum 6) - Admission: $ US 2.
- Angkor Borei. On the way to Phnom Da you can make a detour to this historical place. It used to be an important trading center. There is a small museum at the harbor (entrance fee: $ US 1).
- Phnom Chisor. Phnom Chisor is a mountain north of the city. On the summit there are some temple ruins from the 10th and 11th centuries. From the mountain you have a good view of the surroundings. The climb has 412 steps. There are simple drink stands halfway and at the foot of the mountain. You can take a moped for the 26-kilometer journey.
