Tanguiéta is a city of Northern Benin.
To know
Tanguiéta is the new Natitingou. With a more concise city center and better small-town vibe, Tanguiéta is also a crossroads and a great place to stop and spend a night on the way to the stunning Tanangou Falls (40km dirt road, a 3000F motorbike ride) , the Pendjari National Park (15km beyond Tanangou), the Saturday mile beer market in Tayacou (10km, 1000F motorcycle ride on Cobly road) or in the direction of the Burkina Faso.
Geographical notes
Located in the northwestern part of the country, it borders on the north Burkina Faso, to the south with the municipality of Boukoumbé, to the east with Kérou, Kouandé is Toucountouna and to the west with Matéri is Cobly.
Surrounded by mountains, Tanguiéta features rugged terrain.
Background
During the domain French, Tanguiéta was the regional capital and the departmental seat of the government.

By car
It is located on the RNIE 3 highway which connects it to Natitingou.
By bus
From Cotonou, there are two bus services that depart at 7:00 am and arrive in Tanguiéta around 4:00 pm. This is the best option. The companies are:
- Confort Lines: Has less leg room but offers you a free sandwich.
- Coton 'Bus: it has more space, it is an independent company and not a giant like Confort Lines and it was also the first company to provide services to Tanguiéta.
Both provide free treated water. There is also a return bus every day, which leaves again from Tanguita at 7:00 am and arrives in Cotonou at 4:00 pm.
How to get around
You can walk most of the distances in the city.
By taxi
The races zem range from 100 to 300 CFA. There is no need for car service as you move around the city.

Mon. Tanguiéta is at its peak on market day.
- Millet beer market (In nearby Tayacou).
Sat afternoon. There is a lot of exquisite beer by the mile and old people's dancing.

From 9:00. Shop where you can buy crockery and everything for the home (clothes, glasses, cutlery, etc.). No entry price.

- Camping Tata (On the outskirts of Tanguiéta near a traditional Tata Somba). The campsite offers rooms with fan, shower, toilet and TV. There is a small restaurant with traditional and European dishes for visitors.
Average prices
- Hotel Atakora (In the center of Tanguiéta, above the Quidata supermarket).
2,500 CFA food. The hotel offers 10 comfortable rooms with air conditioning, shower, toilet, water heater and TV. Food is available in the cafeteria. From the roof terrace you can enjoy a wonderful view of the sunset and the evening life in the streets of Tanguiétas.
- Baobab hotel (At the Tanguiéta exit towards Porga), ☎ 229 9744 0936. The hotel offers 16 bungalow-style rooms built in a similar way to the local architecture. All rooms are equipped with shower and toilet: 14 rooms have a fan and 2 rooms are air conditioned. The restaurant is located in the shade of old trees offering European and African dishes.
- Cascade hotel (At the Tanguiéta exit towards Batia). The hotel is open all year round and offers 8 rooms with fan, shower / WC.
- Relais de Tanongou (At the entrance to the Tanongou waterfall). It offers a relaxing place to rest. There are 6 bungalow rooms with fan, indoor or outdoor shower / toilet. The restaurant offers European dishes and minimum service from 1st June to 30th November.
- Hébergement chez the habitat. In Tanongou village people offer rooms in their homes and offer traditional cuisine. The rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, lights, showers and toilets. The rooms offer a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in village life.
- Camp Numi (50 km north near the entrance to the Pendjari National Park in Batia). It offers six rooms with water heater, shower and toilet. There is a swimming pool and a restaurant with European cuisine.
- Pendjari hotel (It is the only hotel in the Pendjari National Park). It has a total of 43 rooms and bungalows, a swimming pool and a restaurant. The hotel is open from 1st December to 31st May.
- Hotel Porga (A Porga at the entrance to the Pendjari National Park, 7 km from the border between Benin and Burkina Faso). The hotel offers 12 rooms and 3 bungalows with fans. A restaurant is available to visitors. The hotel is only open during the dry season from 15th December to 31st May.
Safety
- 1 Saint Jean de Dieu Hospital (San Jean de Dieu Fatebenefratelli). Run by monks Italians, known throughout the country for its work and considered the best hospital in Benin. Even people who can afford it come here from neighboring countries to be treated. Born in 1970 with 80 beds. Today it has more than 200 and has been proposed by the WHO as a model for the training of health teams in Benin and Burkina Faso. It is capable of operating several thousand hospitalizations and surgeries annually, as well as thousands of other outpatient services. It also functions as a graduate school for students, as a reference center for 17 dispensaries in the neighboring areas and periodically carries out vaccination campaigns against tetanus, polio, measles and meningitis.
