Tobolsk is a city in Russian Tyumen Oblast. It is located at the mouth of the river Tobol in the Irtysh.

Tobolsk was founded by Cossacks in 1587 and is the oldest Russian city in Siberia after Tyumen.

The city on the eastern bank of the Tobol consists of the Upper Town, it is located on a 60 m high hill, called Alafejskaya Mountain. In the lower town there are some baroque and classicist churches.
