Turin is a territory located in the Piedmont hills.
To know
The Turin area is a rich territory of ancient traditions that crowns a Turin, the first capital ofItaly. The city has always been the political fulcrum of this area but, despite this, even the neighboring cities have undergone a great cultural influence from the Crown of Savoy and its villages have been enriched by exceptional architectural works, such as the royal residences, scattered throughout the territory and declared heritage ofUNESCO.
It is crossed by the Po, which descending from the mountains is the backdrop to picturesque urban views in Turin and the surrounding cities.

Mole Antonelliana
- 1 Carignano - It is one of the oldest Piedmontese municipalities and in its historic center, cut in two by the characteristic Via Vittorio Veneto, there are many testimonies of the medieval past. Worthy of a visit is the majestic Baroque Cathedral of S. Giovanni Battista and Remigio, designed by Benedetto Alfieri.
- 2 Carmagnola - A small town south of Turin, famous for its peppers. The festival takes place annually.
- 3 Cavour - It was an antique castrum Roman, later a fief of Camillo Benso. Its peculiarity is that of being at the foot of a very unique miniature mountain that stands out on the surrounding plain: the Rocca. On the summit you can also enjoy an incomparable 360 degree panorama.
- 4 Chieri - Lying between the Monferrato and the last offshoots of the Po Hills, the city was rebuilt in the Baroque style. Particularly scenographic is the pedestrian street Vittorio Emanuele II. After walking up to about half way we find the Triumphal Arch. Among the masterpieces of the '400 stands the Cathedral with the brick facade of Gothic shapes. The city is home to the Textile Museum and a library that houses only collections relating to the textile sector.
- 5 Moncalieri - It is the second largest city in the area and is organized around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the heart of the old city. The town is dominated by the Royal Castle, one of the oldest Savoy residences.
- 6 Pecetto Torinese - It is located on the slopes of the Po hills, and inside it preserves important testimonies of the Piedmontese Romanesque, such as the church of San Sebastiano
- 7 Pinerolo - City with narrow arcaded streets that branch off from the center. It is located at the entrance to the Waldensian valleys and it is an important commercial and industrial center. She is known for tales of chivalry, such as that of the mysterious individual known as "Iron mask"locked up in the city prison, which inspired the saga of the three musketeers.
- 8 Rivoli - Town located in the metropolitan area of Turin, there is the sixteenth-century castle of Rivoli, one of the most important Savoy royal palaces, heritage ofUNESCO. Inside the rooms of the castle there is an exceptional museum of contemporary art, one of the largest in Italy. The museum is played on the contrasts between the elegant frescoed rooms and the very modern works on display.
- 9 Santena - Famous for its tasty asparagus, it was a favorite holiday destination from Camillo Benso, which has left you precious testimonies such as the elegant Villa Cavour.
- 10 Turin - The sober elegance of the Savoyard city is superimposed on the checkerboard layout of the Roman one Augusta Taurinorum: long straight avenues that cross perpendicularly where the nascent Po plain replaces the Alps. Following the vicissitudes of its Lords, the Savoy, it became the first capital of theItaly unit. The Savoy palace, piazza Castello, the Basilica of Superga but even more the Mole Antonelliana are its artistic symbols; Fiat is the economic symbol. The metropolis, with Milan is Genoa, is one of the three industrial poles ofNorthwestern Italy and was the protagonist of the nation's economic rebirth in the years of the economic boom.
- 11 Venaria Reale - The whole city is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture that surrounds the most important Savoy residence, the Reggia di Venaria. The elegant old town with spectacular perspective views underlines the majesty of the complex.

The most convenient airport is that of Turin-Caselle.
By car
The area can be reached via the following highways:
- A4 from Venice is Milan
- A5 from Switzerland and from Aosta
- A21 from Brescia is Piacenza
- A6 from Savona
- T4 (Frejus Tunnel) from France, continuing on the A32 from Bardonecchia
On the train
The Turin can be reached from Milan thanks to the high speed that guarantees a travel time of about an hour.

Turin and the Turin area enjoy the fame of an area full of mystery. It is said that the city is the center of esoteric cults of white magic and black magic, many places in the surrounding area are in fact characterized by esoteric and Masonic symbols. Many are skeptical, but no doubt for the tourist it will be exciting to go in search of these mysterious magical symbols. |
- 1 Superga Basilica, @[email protected]. It was built on the top of the hill overlooking Turin, and is one of its symbols. Designed by the architect Filippo Juvarra, it can be considered the best example of the late Baroque in Piedmont. In the basement there are the tombs of all the kings of Sardinia.
- 2 Venaria Reale, @[email protected]. Among the best Savoy residences, Venaria undoubtedly stands out above all: built in the same years and in the same style as Versailles, it preserves halls and works of art spread over 80,000 m2 of buildings. The restoration that took place in 2007 has enhanced the whole complex which, in addition to hosting very popular tour itineraries, is home to exhibitions and concerts.

The complex is organized around the splendid central hall and is located in a vast geometric garden characterized by a succession of avenues and flower beds. - 4 Royal Castle of Moncalieri, @[email protected]. With a horseshoe-shaped structure with four towers it dominates the town of Moncalieri from above. It is one of the oldest royal residences and is considered one of the most haunted castles in Italy.
- 5 Abbey of Santa Fede, Via Santa Fede, 92 - Cavagnolo. The old abbey church, founded in the first half of the 12th century by the Benedictine monks of the abbey of Sainte-Foy-de-Conques ofAuvergne, with the Romanesque elegance that have been preserved over time, has a particular tourist interest.

- Green ring of the Po hill. This simple path, immersed in the woods, winds on the hill above Turin and touches all the historical and natural points of interest in the area. It offers splendid viewpoints over the city.
- La Mandria Park. This vast park, located behind Venaria Reale, is a favorite destination for nature lovers: you can take long walks and observe numerous species of animals in the wild with guided tours on foot or by bicycle.
