The Mortuary temple of Merenptah is an archaeological site on the Nile west side of Luxor at the edge of the fruit land. Here is the so-called. Millions of years of King Merenptah. This temple complex served both the death cult of the late king and the worship of the god Amun. Only the foundation walls of this temple have been preserved, so that mainly archaeologists and Egyptologists should be interested in this.

getting there

About 5 kilometers from the ferry pier on the west bank, about 500 m west of the Colossi of Memnon, there is a ticket booth where you also have to buy tickets for the mortuary temple of Merenptah.

Tourist Attractions

The archaeological site is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entrance fee is LE 40, for foreign students LE 20 (as of 11/2019). The museum was closed in 2019.
