trips

  • Halleberg and Hunneberg. A trip to Halleberg and Hunneberg, two plateau mountains with an almost vertically sloping edge, which keeps many animals "captive" on the mountains, is recommended. Above is a royal hunting domain, so very few people are allowed to hunt - accordingly there are many moose that are very common to see at dusk. There are some signposted hiking routes, small lakes, shelters and, close to the edge of the plateau, a circular path that can be driven by car. (Satellite image in which the plateau mountains, lakes and paths are clearly visible).
  • Vanersborg. 15 km north. Vänersborg is a former residential city and is still the administrative seat of the province today Västra Götaland. The city is located on the southern tip of the lake Vänern and offers a small park on the lakefront.
  • Hindens Rev. 65 km northeast. A narrow headland in Vänern is ideal for a 4 km long hike (8 km there and back). This "reef" was formed as a terminal moraine from the Ice Age. The headland, which is a few hundred meters wide at the beginning, becomes narrower and narrower until it disappears below the surface of the water.
  • Läckö Slott. 85 km northeast. A palace complex from the 16th century. Visible in summer. Additional Information: [2]w: Läckö Castle.
  • Uddevalla. 30 km northwest. Port city on the west coast.
    • Bohusläns Museum. Price: free entry.
    • Mussel beds. Around 11,000 year old clusters of mussels that have dried out due to the uplift of the land.
    • Promenade to the seaside resort of Gustafsberg
  • Lödöse Museum. 35 km south. Museum of the history of Lödöse [3]. Gothenburg's first predecessor city was located here from the 11th to the 17th century. The place has only a good 1000 inhabitants today, but the history of the region of the river valley is in the museum Göta Älvs Represented by early history (free admission) Information about the location: w: Lödöse.
