Trujillo, capital of the department of La Libertad, in Peru, is renowned for being the city of eternal spring, thanks to its privileged climate and its cheerfulness.
Understand
The region was populated by two important civilizations from ancient Peru, the Mochica civilization and the Chimú civilization, and it later became an important city of the Viceroyalty. Among its countless archaeological attractions is Chan Chan, America's largest earthen citadel, and former Chimú capital, declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1986.
Also not to be missed are the impressive Sun and Moon huacas, built by the Mochicas, which measure over 20 meters height ; The El Brujo complex is also worth seeing, adorned with astonishing figures of dancers and warriors. The city can be proud of its splendid colonial architecture, in particular with its Cathedral, its Archiepiscopal Palace, its Church of the Compañía, its monastery of El Carmen and its colonial houses.
TO 15 min of the city is the seaside resort of Huanchaco with its caballitos de totora, its light boats (rafts of rushes) which ply the seas since the time of the mochicas and chimús, and where you can enjoy delicious dishes based on of fresh fish and seafood, or, quite simply, where you can enjoy a day at the beach.
