Tsinvali (Georgian: ცხინვალი; Tschinvali, Ossetian: Цхинвал; Tschinval) is the capital of South Ossetia, a separatist autonomous region in Georgia. It is located on the Great Liachvi, one hundred kilometers northwest of Tbilis. The city has about 30,000 inhabitants.
