Tourist Attractions
The municipality, which is only 50 years old, does not have too much to offer itself, it is the grandiose surroundings of the Mackenzie Basin with the view of the snow-capped peaks of the southern Alps, it is the mountain lakes with their intensely shining blue color. Often you can find both at the same time as with Peter's lookout on the way to Mount Cook. The clear air also plays its part. The night sky is particularly easy to observe in this part of New Zealand. Therefore there are also some smaller observatories in the area.
