Tabriz (Persian:تبریز / Tabris, Azeri:Təbriz) is a large city in Iran.

Tabriz is located in northwestern Iran, not far from the border with the Turkey. The majority of the inhabitants are of Azerbaijani ethnicity, which also has an influence on the pronunciation / spelling of the place name in German: "Tabris" is common here (= Təbriz), while in Persian the name of the city is "Tabris" (without "ä") .
