Temples and monasteries
- Wat Maha Wanaram (วัด มหา วนาราม). Main temple of Ubon and at the same time the oldest in the city; the Buddha statue Phra Chao Yai Indra Plang is very revered by the local population.
- Wat Supattanaram (วัด สุ ปัฏ นา ราม). Was one of the first Buddhist monasteries in northeast Thailand, is not far from the center on the banks of the Maenam Mun, has elements of Thai, Khmer and European architecture.
- Wat Thung Sri Muang (วัด ทุ่ง ศรี เมือง). The monastery library is particularly worth seeing (Hor Trai) made of wood and beautiful wall paintings, some of which illustrate texts from Buddhist literature and some depict scenes from everyday life.
- Wat Phrathat Nong Bua (วัด พระ ธาตุ หนองบัว) (on the north edge of the city on the road direction Amnat Charoen). Unique stupa in Thailand, the style of which is based on the Mahabodhi temple in Bodhgaya (India); .
- Wat Pah Nanachat (14 km southwest of the city center on road 226). “International Forest Monastery”, on the initiative of the monk Ajahn Chah (one of the most famous representatives of the Thai forest tradition) was founded especially for people from western countries interested in Buddhism.

trips
- Ban Kan Lueang Archeology Park (พิพิธภัณฑ์ เปิด บ้าน ก้านเหลือง)
- Confluence of the Mekong and Mae Nam Mun, at Khong Chiam. Worth seeing because the two rivers carry differently colored water, which gradually mixes. 77 km east, on the border with Laos. Difficult to reach by public transport (regional bus to Phibun Mangsahan, there change to only rarely and irregularly driving Songthaeo), better with a car.
