Uzes is a french City in the department Gard and belongs to the region Languedoc-Roussillon.
background
Politically, the city belongs to the Arrondissement of Nîmes and is the administrative seat of the Canton of Uzès.
The city is located around 22 kilometers north of Nîmes on a hill with the river at its foot Your arises. - The 9 Cathédrale Saint-Théodorit : The first church was built in 1090 on the floor of a Roman temple. The cathedral was last largely destroyed in 1621 as part of the wars of religion. The current building dates from 1652, the neo-Romanesque facade from 1873. The church was largely stripped of its interior fittings during the revolution.
