Vargas is one of the federated states Venezuelans of the Central Venezuela.
To know
Vargas is the newest state of Venezuela. It is named after the first non-military Venezuelan president and doctor José María Vargas.
Geographical notes
Located in the north of the Venezuela, bordered to the north by the Caribbean Sea, to the east by the States of Miranda and the Capital District (Distrito Capital) to the south with the states of Aragua, Capital District and Miranda and to the west with Aragua and the Capital District.
It has an area of 1,496 km² and about 170 km of coastline, the state consists of a narrow coastal strip parallel to which rises the mountainous area of the Serranía del Litoral, whose peaks exceed 2,000 m such as the Pico Agustín Codazzi ( 2425 m s.l.m.) and the Naiguatá (2765 m a.s.l.).
The waterways present in the state are all short, shallow and torrential.

The climate is tropical, the average temperature is between 25.6 and 27 ° C with annual rainfall between 900 mm and 1530 mm.
Background
At the end of 1999, the state suffered from severe flooding in which thousands of people lost their lives and almost the entire state was displaced. Locals refer to the incident as "a tragedy".

These seaside resorts are not well known to visitors, but they are popular with the caraqueños (inhabitants of Caracas) especially on weekends.
- La Guaira - State capital of Vargas and historic port.
- Caraballeda - Purely tourist and luxurious resort but devastated by the floods of 1999.
- Catia La Mar - West of the airport with cheaper hotels offering a shuttle service between the two properties. Suburban neighborhood with decent beaches.
- Macuto - City with a long history and a favorite among the citizens of Caracas. On weekends it can get crowded.
- Naiguatá - Surfing areas full of cultural festivals.
