Benedictine monastery

The town Victoria with about 30,000 inhabitants lies in the west of the argentinian province Entre Ríos. It lies on the edge of the delta of the Río Paraná opposite the big city Rosario and is one of the centers of Carnaval Entrerriano, the Carnival of Entre Ríos.

The city is known as Ciudad de las Siete Colinas (City of the Seven Hills). This is due to its very mountainous geography for the pampa region, which gives it its own character.

background

Victoria is ideal for travelers who want to experience the colorful Eastern Argentine carnival without too much commercialization. Unlike in Gualeguaychú it takes place here on the street, in a park near the border with the delta.

The city was founded in 1810. Its old town from the late 19th century, which was decisively influenced by French and Italian elements, is particularly attractive in connection with the hilly geography.
