By plane
- 1 Vienna-Schwechat Airport (IATA : LIFE, ICAO: LOWW, Flughafen Wien-Schwechat) (To 18 km south-east of the city center) – The airport serving the city. Several companies are present including Air France, Austrian Airlines, Luxair from Luxembourg, SN Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa, as well as companies low cost Niki (the airline of Niki Lauda the former F1 champion). To reach the city center from the airport, several solutions including the classic regional train (4,4 €, December 2014) in 25 min or the City Airport Train which is a faster (16 min) and more expensive direct train (11 € in November 2013).
- 2 International Airport of Bratislava (in Slovakia) – Is served by some low cost companies, like Ryanair. It is located approximately 70 km from Vienna (Bratislava and Vienna are the two closest capitals to Europe). A shuttle will then take you to the Austrian capital, for a fee 10 €.
By train
There are many rail connections between the various stations in Vienna and Germany, Italy, France (a daily night train from Paris) and Central Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, etc.).
By car
The roads are in very good condition and to cross the country by the motorway you will have to free yourself from an inexpensive sticker sold in gas stations.
By bus
On a boat
We can go down the valley of Danube since the Bavaria. Many successful relationships to Bratislava and to Budapest.

- The old center is partly pedestrianized and small enough to be easily explored on foot. Trams 1 and 2 circle the center in both directions along the Ring Road and give a good overview of the main buildings in the center. Numerous tram lines and buses provide access to more remote neighborhoods, and are well complemented by the metro network.
- Many cycle routes, the Citybike Wien offers the possibility of using bicycles which are located in one of the 50 stations. The service is available every day, 24 h on 24.

The city center inside the Ring can be explored on foot. All the activity is centered around Saint-Stephan Platz.

- 1 Stephansdom (St Stephen's Cathedral) Stephanplatz 3 – Gothic cathedral contrasting with the Haas Haus, the glass building facing it.
- South tower (Südturm) (access from outside the cathedral)

adults: 4,5 €, 15-18 years old: 2 €, 6-14 years old: 1,5 €. – This tower of the cathedral, 137 m, often known by its Viennese diminutive Steffl (also a nickname for the cathedral itself) was completed in 1433. You have to climb 347 steps to reach the upper hall. You might be disappointed with the view because it is only through four fairly small windows and, though it overlooks the city, the city's fairly flat relief makes it less attractive than other vantage points of the same type.

- Graben – one of the most famous streets in Vienna; many monuments such as, for example, a column of the plague.
- The Ring – This prestigious artery was built on the site of the ramparts and their glacis. It surrounds the city center and allows you to see many buildings: Opera House, Town Hall, Theater, museums, park, university, parliament, etc. To do with tram 1 or 2 (each one makes one direction of this loop which also passes along the quays), day and night.
- Karlskirche (Saint-Charles-Borromée Church) Kreuzherrengasse 1 – It is a baroque church, located in Herrengasse Kreuz, 1, in the southern part of Karlsplatz, on the edge of the first district, and two hundred meters outside the Ringstrasse.

- 3 Hofburg – The Imperial Palace in the city center. We visit various galleries of collections of drawings, musical instruments etc, imperial apartments, chapels. Today, it houses among others the national library.

- 4 Schönbrunn Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn) – It was the imperial summer palace, away from the city. Among other things, you can visit Sissi's bedroom and see portraits of Marie-Antoinette and her mother Marie-Thérèse of Austria. Guided tours are available in German and English, but it is also possible to visit the castle in French, Italian and Spanish. Superb view of the city and the park from the Gazebo, pavilion in the heights of the castle park.
Museums Quartier
Located in the former imperial stables, the Museums Quarter is where contemporary art and creation is concentrated in Vienna. It is also a place to come and lie in the sun, have a drink, go to designer boutiques. Possibility to buy combined tickets at the main shop for the different exhibition spaces.

9 € (2007). – Baroque palace built by Prince Eugene of Savoy, victor over the Turks. The palace has two parts: the Upper Belvedere and the Lower Belvedere linked by a park. Nice view of the city from the Upper Belvedere. It houses in the Osterreichische Galerie Austrian works from the second half of the XIXe century and early 20e. This is where we can see Klimt's "Kiss". Also a collection of medieval paintings.
- 16 MAK - Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art (MAK - Österreichisches Museum für angewandte Kunst / Gegenwartskunst) Stubenring 5 – Decorative Arts Museum on Stubenring 1 in downtown Vienna. Besides its traditional orientation towards Decorative Arts and Design, this museum also gives an important place to Contemporary Art. In 2015, the MAK launched the Vienna Biennale, the first biennial to bring together art, design and architecture.

- Classical concerts: From May to the end of December, theHofburg Orchestra (Wiener Hofburg Orchester) will give four times a week live concerts in the historic halls of the Imperial Hofburg Palace in Vienna. The program includes the most famous melodies of the music of waltzes and operetta by Johann Strauss, Emmerich Kalman, Franz Léhar as well as arias and opera duets by W.A. Mozart. Traditional concerts of the Saint Sylvester and New Year take place on December 31 and January 1 in the state rooms of the Hofburg.
- Schönbrunn Zoo : oldest zoo in Europe, beautiful and inexpensive: 16,5 € entry for adults. Located next to the castle.
- Hundertwasserhaus : colorful district created by Hundertwasser. To do absolutely. A few tram stops from Schwedenplatz.
- Donauinsel : On the banks of the Danube, restaurant, clubbing, beaches, play areas, barbecue, etc. Holiday atmosphere only 3 metro stations from the city center and 2 from the Prater (line 1). To do in summer.
- United Nations Headquarters : on the banks of the Danube, large park next to the UN quarters. There is also the Donauturm (252 meters high), with panoramic restaurant and a breathtaking view of Vienna.
- Grinzing and Kahlenberg: typical district-village of Vienna where the heuriger are located and a superb view of Vienna. Places also for hiking. On the heights of Vienna (19e arrondissement). Heligenstadt metro (line 4) then bus (38a)

- Figlmueller : specialty of Viennese schnitzel (huge piece). Lively brasserie atmosphere, somewhat hasty service. Potato salad. Does not serve beer. Very busy: remember to book or go to their extension (on the corner) which has less character. Reasonable price / - 16th the escalope, but without accompaniment.
- English Reiter : inexpensive and good quality Viennese specialties, restaurant located in the Prater, opposite the Schweiss Haus. Wiener Schnitzel Prize: 8,90 € with mixed salad 2,9 € if you want an additional accompaniment (example: fries). Large shaded terrace, pleasant service. Typical Viennese atmosphere (heuriger type).

- Vestibül pronounce Vèstibuul (Burgtheater) very classic restaurant located in the former carriage entrance of the famous theater built in 1888 on the circular boulevard (Ring). Austrian bourgeois cuisine. Good service. Not far from the city center (opposite the Town Hall).

- 1 Cafe Central – One of the essential tourist stops is to go for a cappuccino at Café Central, a café housed in a palace. The café is one of the oldest institutions in Vienna. It opened in 1876, and has often been a meeting place for the city's poets and writers.
- S'Packerl – Typical Lokal located in the Bermuda dreierck (Bermuda triangle where there are several Lokals, in the 1st district. Metro Schwedenplatz or Stefansplatz). Cheap drink prices, lokal run by Thomas, Viennese and French speaking. Very nice atmosphere.
- Volksgarten – Shaded terraces, clubbing, different atmospheres around the Rathaus.

Average prices for a double room in a pension are around 60 € per night but can go up much more depending on the standard. Pensions are small hotels in buildings, sometimes run by families. Prices are significantly more expensive inside the Ring. Please note that mid-priced pensions are in great demand for their value for money, it is better to book well in advance in popular periods such as spring and summer (at least 3 months).
