The Front Odenwald lies between the Mountain road and the Buntsandstein-Odenwald and largely belongs to the southern part Hesse.
Regions
Geologically, the Vordere Odenwald consists of igneous rock that has crystallized out. Hence the name Granite Odenwald or crystalline Odenwald. In the west it is limited by the Mountain road, to the south and east by the Buntsandstein-Odenwald or rear Odenwald. In the north, the plain of the Main Valley forms the border.
