The community Voss is in the southern Norway. The main town of the municipality is Vossevangen, which is often also referred to as Voss.
background
The place Voss or Vossevangen in the municipality of Voss has about 7,000 inhabitants and is conveniently located on the E 16 on the connecting route from the Hardangerfjord in the south to the Sognefjord in the north. To the east are the northernmost foothills of the Hardangervidda, to the west it goes into the fjord area to Bergen.
The town of Voss was almost completely destroyed in a German air raid in 1940, so that today only a few old buildings remain, such as the Vangskyrkja (Voss Kirke) from 1277.

Voss is a breakpoint at the Bergen Railway, the Oslo - Bergen route.

In the street
The one running in an east-west direction E 16 of Lærdal to Bergen and the one running in north-south direction Rv 13 from the Sognefjord at Balestrand direction Stavanger run by Voss.

By bicycle
Voss is on the National cycle route 4 from Oslo to Bergen. During the route from Oslo coming across the Hardangervidda and thus along the famous Rallarvegen leads through sometimes spectacular landscapes, the journey from Bergen on cycle route 4 is largely unspectacular, busy and requires the passage of numerous tunnels. Various sources even recommend, in some cases, bridging the Bergen - Voss route by train. If you still want to cycle from Bergen to Voss, you should use the following sources to plan the route as optimally as possible: Map of all Norwegian cycle routes and Directory of Norwegian tunnels, a database maintained by touring cyclists. On the first map there is also an alternative route (national route BO) from the direction of Bergen.

trips
It's about 45 km on the E16 Gudvangen to the Nærøyfjord. Those who would like the drive a bit more spectacular can choose the steep, winding path over the Stalheimskleiva instead of driving through the tunnels - drivers of caravan teams, however, should rather take the tunnel.
