Walim(German: Wüstewaltersdorf before Waltersdorf desert) is a mountain town in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in the northwest of the Glatzer Ländchens in the Owl Mountains in the Medium brews. Its location makes the place an important center of tourism in the Glatzer Ländchen. The place is the starting point for hikes in the surrounding mountains, including the Hohe Eule (hiking trail marked yellow). It is known in particular as the main place of work on the Nazi project Riese. A museum and some of the tunnels are accessible on guided tours. Since only a fraction of the tunnels are exposed, rumors keep coming up that the legendary Nazi gold is hidden here in the mountain. Unauthorized entry into the tunnels, for example for a treasure hunt, is therefore not permitted without a permit.

The place probably originated in 1220 as a settlement of miners who were looking for silver here, and was first mentioned in 1305. During the period of Polish particularism, he belonged to changing partial duchies, most recently to the Duchy of Schneidwitz-Jauer, which became dependent on Bohemia in 1368. In 1742/1763 the place came to Prussia. Tourism began to develop in the 19th century. The place continued to develop, with the exception of the times of the world wars. During the Second World War, forced laborers built the Riese project here. In 1945 the place came to Poland.
