Hiking trail on the canal
The Vistula-Bug-Channel, also Żerań Canal or Żerań-Zegrze Canal, (Polish: Canal Żerański) is an approx. 18 km long canal in the central Poland in the voivodeship Mazovia. It connects the marina in Warsaw (Białołęka) with the Zegrze reservoir at the Narew and the Bug. The Długa flows into the canal. It is used almost exclusively by pleasure boats.
Run
The canal begins in the marina in the northeast of Warsaw in the district Żerań on the Vistula and ends at Nieporęt in the reservoir. It was built in the 1930s and commissioned in the early 1950s.
Development
Green areas and hiking trails were created along the canal. There are locks.
