White River is a small town in Lowveld.
background
White River or "Witrivier" africaans lies in the valley of the Crocodile River. The town was founded in 1890 when British veterans were to be settled here after the Boer War. Trees were planted and an irrigation canal created, and yet only one of the more than 100 settlers remained by 1911, all the others were unable to cope with the climate and had to give up. A small group of hunters from the surrounding area then acquired the land, and after the First World War, White River developed into a place with flourishing agriculture, tropical fruits and flowers are grown.
