Windheim is a district of Petershagen at the Mittelweser in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Windheim, whose roots go back to the early Middle Ages, is also known as the "old center on the Weser". Travelers are particularly enthusiastic about the many stork nests in town and the Westphalian Stork Museum.

Windheim is located on the section of the Weser between the weirs Petershagen and Schlüsselburg, which is not accessible to commercial shipping. This uses the lock canal running parallel here. Recreational boaters and Water hikers however, you can use this quiet section of the Weser, so that you can travel this way.
Since 2002, the only solar ferry in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Petra Solara, has been connecting the two banks of the Weser near Windheim, making Windheim for people, including those by bike, with the one on the opposite bank Hävern connected is. The ferry usually runs from April to October on weekends, bridge days and market days between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., in July and August daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Special trips can be arranged.

- A variant of the Weser cycle path leads through Windheim.
