Historical monuments

There are valuable architectural monuments in the village, incl. remains of the former abbey Premonstratensians, founded in 1179, which, according to Jan Długosz, were to be destroyed by the Tatars in 1260, and the church was rebuilt in 1470 in the Gothic style, and in the middle of the Eighteenth century, completely rebuilt in the baroque style. The church has survived in this state to our times, only in 1902 the two towers were raised by 1 storey. The preserved wing of the monastery is now the presbytery of the church.
The fortifications surrounding the monastery were demolished in the 19th century, leaving only the entrance gate.
Other monuments include an old forge and a medieval chapel.

  • Church of st. Margaret and St. Augustine, former monastery, now a parish building is a basilica-type building. In the façade there is a volute gable above the concave central part.
Inside, the walls are decorated with pilasters and stucco decorations by F. Urbański (18th century). Plant-based rococo decorations; complex of altars - late baroque. In the main altar from 1747 there is a painting of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary from the Italian school from the beginning of the 18th century, considered miraculous. Tombstones of abbots, incl. gothic from around 1480 and gothic-renaissance from the beginning of the 16th century. Also noteworthy is the marble baptismal font from 1646 and the side altars from 1743.
  • In the historic gate tower from the 15th century, made of gothic brick, with a Polish bond with the use of glazed bricks, which is a remnant of the fortifications from the 15th century - incl. arrowslits on both sides - traces of the old defensive devices have been preserved, as well as a gothic arched vault and post-gothic door frames carved in sandstone.
A reconstructed cross vault on the first floor, and a pointed-arch gateway on the ground floor. In the second half of the 19th century, the gate was converted into a belfry, the third floor was added and the whole thing was covered with a domed roof. In the years 1964-1966 the gate was reconstructed and it regained its medieval character in the lower storey.
  • The wooden cemetery church of st. Martin, built before 1657, has a log structure. Inside, there are many valuable works of art, coming almost entirely from the monastery church.
