background
The tiny island measures 600 by 1000 meters. It is west of Rochefort.
The island has not been permanently inhabited since the late 1960s. However, there is still agriculture and fishing with permanent huts.
getting there
Of Rochefort, the D 125 leads to the island. The island itself can be reached via the ford at low tide Passe aux Bœufs.

Tourist Attractions
The Croix de galets in a cypress grove in the southwest of the island is the burial place of 254 priests who should have been deported during the revolution. However, they died on board two ships in the port of Rochefort and were buried here. Every year in August there is a pilgrimage to their graves.
In the north of the island there are remains of the redoubt and casemates from 1703.
