- 1 Kärdla – Chief town of the region. Most of the island's services can be found there. The two main attractions in town are the Local Crafts Museum and the beach.
- 2 Käina – Second locality of the island in population. There are the ruins of a 15th century churche century and the Rudolf Tobias museum.

Lighthouses
Lighthouses are the main attraction of Hiiumaa Island, the three main ones are Kõpu, Tahkuna and Ristna Lighthouses. It is possible to buy a ticket at 5 € to gain access to the three lighthouses.
- 1 Kõpu Lighthouse (Kõpu tuletorn) 10 h - 20 h from May to September. 2 € adults, 1 € children, 5 € with a combined ticket for the 3 main lighthouses of the island. – it is the most famous monument on the island. It is the third oldest lighthouse still in operation, the first building was completed in 1531. It measures 36 m tall, and is visible at 65 km distance. It is possible to access the summit to benefit from the panorama.
- 2 Tahkuna Lighthouse (Tahkuna tuletorn) 10 h - 19 h from Tuesday to Sunday. 2 € adults, 1 € children, 5 € with a combined ticket for the 3 main lighthouses of the island. – lighthouse built in 1875 from 43 m height. Just behind is a memorial to the victims of the sinking of theEstonia a few kilometers to the north-west in 1994. Between the two monuments a stone labyrinth reproduces an ancient labyrinth discovered in Hiiumaa.
- 3 Ristna Lighthouse (Ristna tuletorn) 10 h - 19 h Tuesday to Sunday from May to September. 2 € adults, 1 € children, 5 € with a combined ticket for the 3 main lighthouses of the island. – lighthouse located at the end of the Kõpu peninsula of red color.
