The entire road network is perfectly maintained and well signposted regardless of the island visited.
Despite the fact that the distances are relatively short, it is not uncommon for the journey times to be misleading. The main causes: slowdowns due to a few carefree tourists who take the time to look for an admirable point of view, (very ...) wide tracks suddenly becoming (very ...) narrow, unexpected presence of tight bends ... take his time.
Watch out for certain expressways such as the Ma-15 which are sporadically equipped with roundabouts.
Only the island of Mallorca has expressways, the use of which is of course free:
- Ma-1 or Autovía del Ponent : connects Palma to Andratx
- Ma-13 : connects Palma to Alcudia
- Ma-15 : connects Palma to Manacor
- Ma-19 : connects Palma to the eastern coast towards Llucmajor
- Ma-20 : ensures the bypass of Palma
The only toll lane existing on this same island is the Sóller tunnel on the road Ma-11 leading to the town of the same name. Pay attention to the fare which is set at approximately 5 € for a light vehicle, if you are not a resident!
The road network of the island of Menorca is mainly served by road Me-1 connecting Ciutadella to Maó, the S'Albufera Des Grau Natural Park can be reached by road Wed-7 if you are driving from Maó.
Ibiza also has its share of axes starting from the city of the same name as its island, the E-20 allows you to bypass the capital as well as to reach the airport.
Gas stations exist in most localities, some remain open 24 h on 24 but it is all the same prudent to inquire before any night trip, regardless of the island on which you are traveling. If in doubt, refuel before nightfall so as not to be caught off guard, the distances are not enormous anyway. Their level of equipment is more or less the same as everywhere else, payment cards are generally accepted from one point to another.
