Agen is the capital (prefecture) of the department Lot-et-Garonne in the travel region Aquitaine in France. The city is on the right side of the Garonne River. In the north, the Canal Latéral à la Garonne crosses the river in a canal bridge.

In the street

The autoroute runs south of Agen, on the left side of the Garonne A62 of Bordeaux to Toulouse. There you take the exit Symbol: AS 7 Agen and shortly thereafter comes the Route nationale N 21. This crosses the Garonne and runs along the right bank through Agen. The national route N 21 leads to the north Villeneuve-sur-Lot and heading south across Layrac to Also. The départementale route also runs D 656 and Route départementale D 813 through the city.

By boat

Both the Garonne and the Canal Latéral à la Garonne are navigable. The channel has in Toulouse Connection to the Canal du Midi.
