Aragarças is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Goiás, on the banks of the Araguaia river, in front of Barra do Egrets at the Mato Grosso.

By car

  • In Goiania, take the GO-070 to Itaberaí and then the BR-070. Aragarças is 391 km away.
  • In Brasilia, exit by Via Estrutural, towards Beautiful waters and Pirenópolis, and follow the BR 070 all life. Aragarças is 502 km away.

Look

  • Beaches paradise in June, July and August; here is the confluence of the Garças river with the Araguaia, with beaches of great tourist attraction.
  • Thermal waters as in Caldas Novas; The hot water park, on the other side of the river, is a pleasant water park with thermal waters, naturally heated in a volcanic spring, with medicinal properties.

Legend has it that the lost civilization of Atlantis has underground cities, whose entrances are in the vicinity of Serra do Roncador. Looking for them, or not, Colonel Percy Fawcett mysteriously disappeared near here in 1925, and has never been heard from again (this part is true). In Serra Azul, on the other side of the river, 680m above sea level, is the spaceport; you can go up by car or by a steep ladder, recommended for the more adventurous. Legend has it that the place is visited by flying saucers.

  • enjoy the Araguaia River and its 15 km of beaches, which from July to September are full of tents, food, drinks, shows and various sports. You can fish along the Araguaia River and its tributaries within the municipal territory. The main species of scale fish are pacu caranha, matrinxã, pirarucu, piau, pacu, sardine, croaker and traíra. Among the leather fish are young, cachara, barbado, pirarara, jaú, mandubé, surubim whip, duckbill and mandi.

To camp

In order to camp, environmental agencies demand that the campers comply with the rules of coexistence with the Araguaia River. Some of them: do not use native wood from the region, do not hunt, do not fish without a license from Organs environmental agencies, do not set fires, build the bathroom away from the river bank for at least 30 meters and do not use cans inside, and take all the garbage produced at the camp back to the cities.
