Arguineguín has around 2,700 inhabitants. The Spanish took over the place name from the indigenous population as early as 1492, it means calm water. That applies at least to the port, which is located on a peninsula and is protected by a long pier. To the west of the harbor is the light sandy beach Playa de las Marañuelas, there is also information here. The beach is to the east of the harbor Arguineguin Beach. Not far from there is a large cement works, which, however, is not perceived as disturbing.
Compared to the neighboring towns, Arguineguín looks quite quiet, but the place is a popular destination for holidaymakers from Scandinavia, especially from Norway. There is also a small Norwegian church on the beach promenade for these holiday guests. Otherwise the place lives from fishing. If you are looking for a typical Canarian town on the Costa Mogán, you will most likely find it here.
getting there
By plane
The Gran Canaria Airport is about 35 kilometers northeast of Arguineguín as the crow flies. For example, you can drive 50 km from the district of Patalavaca to the airport by car. It can be easily reached via the GC-1 coastal motorway. Bus routes 90 and 91 connect the city with the airport.
In the street
Arguineguín is close to the motorway GC-1, the place is just as about that GC-500 to reach.
By boat
mobility
From Arguineguín there are two ways to walk to Patalavaca and Anfi Beach, the distance is about 3 kilometers. Along the high coastal road GC 500, the path is partly built as a sidewalk and partly as a separate path next to the road. The promenade is not fully developed, the path leads partly over the beach, partly over gravel. Even the concrete sections are so crumbled in places that there are often stumbling blocks.

Tourist Attractions
Apart from the wonderful location, the place itself doesn't have much to offer. However, there is one special feature Patalavaca. Originally there were only a few small bays on the steep coast, today this is where the sophisticated holiday resort is located Anfi del Mar. The white sand beach is unique in Gran Canaria. However, it was also transported here from the Caribbean. The facility belongs to the hotel group Beginning, which is also very active in the time-sharing business and advertises quite aggressively on Gran Canaria at practically every touristically significant point.
